This is a new analytical and opinion-forming study prepared by the Poland-Japan Foundation, authored by Waka Ikeda. Based on field research conducted in Poland, the author analyzes how Japanese pop culture (especially manga and anime) has become part of mainstream youth culture in Poland. Private entities, such as Studio JG/Yatta.pl, currently play a more effective role as “cultural bridges” than traditional state diplomacy. According to the author, there is a need to strengthen the strategic partnership between Japan and Poland in the area of creative industries.
