Meeting with the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Hiroshima

On June 2nd, the President of the Foundation, Radosław Tyszkiewicz, met with Mr. Tomohide Karita – Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Hiroshima, professionally affiliated with the energy company Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. The Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Hiroshima plays a significant role in strengthening Polish-Japanese relations, particularly in the Chūgoku region. The Consulate's jurisdiction covers five prefectures: Hiroshima, Okayama, Tottori, Shimane, and Yamaguchi. The meeting, which took place at the Consulate's office in Hiroshima, was an opportunity to discuss the potential for future cooperation between the Foundation and the Consulate. Special attention was given to joint initiatives aimed at promoting Polish-Japanese collaboration in the areas of culture, science, and economy, with consideration for the specific characteristics of the Chūgoku region. Although relatively few Polish citizens reside in this region, it holds significant potential for initiatives promoting Poland and Polish culture. Strengthening Poland's presence in this part of Japan may contribute to deepening mutual understanding and building lasting social and institutional ties. Hiroshima, as a city-symbol of peace known for its active role in international diplomatic and civic initiatives, also provides a unique setting for the development of projects with a humanistic and intercultural character. The Foundation expressed its readiness to cooperate in this regard and declared its support for the Consulate's efforts to promote Poland and the values of intercultural dialogue.
