Hokkaido holds significant importance for Poland, both due to the presence of a small Polish community and the heritage of Bolesław Piłsudski – a researcher of Ainu culture and the brother of Józef Piłsudski. The Poland–Japan Foundation plans to soon expand its activities in this region. During talks with Shuji Koshida, Director of the Cultural Affairs Office at the Hokkaido Prefectural Government, the Foundation’s President, Radosław Tyszkiewicz, presented cooperation plans focused primarily on cultural projects. Initiatives in the field of youth exchange are also being considered, and Seiko Tanigami, Director of the Hokkaido branch of the Japan International Cooperation Center, expressed support in this area. The meetings and discussions conducted represent an important step in building relations and developing the Foundation’s contacts with Hokkaido, a dynamically growing region of Japan.

The Polish-Japanese Foundation (FPJ) works for cooperation and development of mutual relations between entities and residents from both countries.
