A New Perspective on Business Succession

The new paper by the Poland-Japan Foundation is “Enso. The SME Succession Crisis in Poland and Why Japan Has Already Lived Through It” by Tomasz Jastrzębski. The paper explains the coming succession crisis facing Polish SMEs, compares Poland’s situation with Japan’s earlier experience, and argues that external succession, M&A, and permanent-capital ownership can help preserve businesses, protect jobs, and retain economic value. It also highlights how lessons from Japan’s experience can support Poland’s economic resilience while strengthening Poland–Japan cooperation for the long term.
