Musical Meeting of Cultures: Poland and Japan in the Sounds of the Piano

On May 24, a special spring piano concert took place at the Ota Civic Plaza in Tokyo, organized by the Poland–Japan Foundation. The event was dedicated to promoting Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the upcoming 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. Interest in the concert far exceeded our expectations — in a hall designed for 100 people, as many as 130 music lovers gathered. Some attendees had to enjoy the concert standing, but this did not prevent the creation of a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. Ms. Yuka Satomi’s performance received tremendous applause. The pianist captivated the audience with her masterful interpretation of works by Fryderyk Chopin and other Polish composers. Encores marked the conclusion of the concert, providing a beautiful culmination to this musical morning. We thank everyone for coming in such large numbers and for celebrating Poland’s rich musical heritage with us!
