On June 27, Radosław Tyszkiewicz, President of the Foundation, met with Yusuke Nakano, Mayor of Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture. The discussions concerned possibilities for future cooperation between the Foundation and this Japanese city, particularly in the context of the Hamamatsu-Warsaw relationship and Chopin’s music. Cooperation between the cities has been ongoing since the 1990s, and the construction of Act City with a replica of Warsaw’s Chopin monument constitutes one of its key symbols. Additionally, the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, in which Polish artists participate, is one of the most important events in the cultural calendar of both countries. Hamamatsu is a city where music plays a central role in culture, particularly thanks to companies such as Yamaha and Kawai.
